Arriving in London, Prabowo Bolsters Indonesia-UK Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, London - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived at London Stansted Airport, England, Sunday, 18 January 2026. The working visit is being conducted to bolster bilateral relations and enhance the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the United Kingdom across various sectors.
According to the official website of the Ministry of State Secretariat, the President was greeted upon arrival by several high-ranking officials from both nations.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, Mark Bevan, the Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative, Adele Taylor MBE, Indonesian Ambassador to the UK, Desra Percaya, British Ambassador to Indonesia, Dominic Jermey, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché to the UK, Colonel Inf. Wiyata S. Aji.
The primary focus of this visit is a bilateral meeting with British government leaders. During his visit to the UK, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The meeting is planned to take place at the UK Prime Minister's Office and will be an important moment to strengthen dialogue and bilateral cooperation in various strategic fields.
Beyond government negotiations, the President will also be received by the British Monarchy. Apart from PM Starmer, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with King Charles III of England.
The meeting with the British Head of State will take place at St. James's Palace as part of a series of high-level diplomacy between the two countries. Diplomatic ties between the two nations are built on a long-standing and stable foundation.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United Kingdom have been established since December 1949 and have continued to develop consistently. Over time, bilateral relations between the two countries have grown into an increasingly strategic and mutually beneficial partnership.
Current collaboration has expanded beyond traditional sectors to address more complex global issues. Cooperation between Indonesia and the UK now covers a number of comprehensive priority sectors, ranging from the economy to global issues of mutual concern. Both countries remain committed to expanding the scope of collaboration in order to address common challenges in the future.
