RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs bolsters economic diplomacy to support national food security through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with state-owned food holding company PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI), also known as ID FOOD. The MoU was signed by Foreign Ministry Secretary-General, Denny Abdi and ID FOOD President Director Ghimoyo at the Sunda Kelapa Room of the ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry and received in Jakarta on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the scope of cooperation includes promoting Indonesian food products in international markets, exchanging data and information, enhancing human resource capacity, facilitating research and technology development cooperation, and supporting both inbound and outbound investment promotion in the food security sector.
In his remarks, Denny emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Foreign Ministry and ID FOOD in strengthening Indonesia's economic diplomacy.
According to him, the synergy between the two sides can be optimized by leveraging the network of Indonesian missions abroad, particularly to expand market access and diversify business partners.
Meanwhile, ID FOOD President Director Ghimoyo, said the cooperation represents a strategic step in strengthening the role of ID FOOD as the state-owned food holding company in supporting the national food security program.
He said support from the Foreign Ministry's economic diplomacy network would create opportunities to expand export markets, strengthen international trade cooperation, and increase investment in the food sector.
Currently, ID FOOD has developed a number of leading export commodities, including robusta and arabica coffee, premium tea, seaweed, rattan and wood furniture, as well as damar gum. Following the signing of the memorandum of understanding, the two parties held a hybrid business pitching session attended by Foreign Ministry officials and staff, several heads of Indonesian missions abroad, and economic affairs officers from Indonesian overseas missions who joined virtually.
Through the event, the Foreign Ministry and ID FOOD expressed hope that closer coordination and communication between the two sides would continue, leading to more concrete cooperation in support of national food security.
