Malaysia Pledges RM500 Aid for Indonesian Students Affected by Sumatra Disaster

KBRN, Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian government has announced it will provide financial assistance totaling RM500 (IDR 2,000,000) to Indonesian students currently studying in Malaysia whose families have been affected by the recent disasters in Sumatra.

In a statement released by the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the aid was framed as a gesture of concern and friendship between the two nations.

“Malaysia will channel aid totaling RM500 per person as a start, to Indonesian students pursuing education in Malaysia and affected by the disaster,” stated the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office, as quoted by Antara on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

Indonesian students in Malaysia whose families are impacted by the disaster in Sumatra are advised to register through their respective educational institutions. This is intended to ensure the aid is coordinated and distributed according to their needs.
