RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Saudi Arabia’s global Umrah invitation program, initiated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has once again highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to serving Muslims worldwide. On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi underscored the significance of the initiative while sending off 40–50 Indonesian pilgrims from Jakarta.
“This event is carried out as a form of commitment by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, namely King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to fulfill the needs of Muslims worldwide,” Ambassador Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi said at the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
He emphasized that the program reflects King Salman’s concern for the global Muslim community, including Indonesia.
The Indonesian pilgrims departed for Madinah as part of the first wave, joining participants from across Asia, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mongolia. Their two-week pilgrimage is fully funded by King Salman, covering all expenses.
Ambassador Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi expressed hope that the worship performed by Indonesian pilgrims would be accepted by Allah SWT and that the experience would strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. “May relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia continue to grow stronger,” he added.
The pilgrims selected this year come from various Islamic educational institutions and organizations in Indonesia, reflecting the program’s role not only as a spiritual journey but also as a bridge for people-to-people connections. The initiative is seen as reinforcing bilateral friendship and cooperation, while also affirming Indonesia’s place in Saudi Arabia’s broader outreach to the Muslim world. ***
