RRI.CO.ID, Makassar - The Ministry of Forestry strengthens the competence of forestry human resources (HR) thru training and competency testing for Technical Personnel in Forest Management for Non-Timber Forest Product Utilization (GANISPH Non-Timber Forest Product Utilization). This step is taken to support the professional, accountable, and sustainable governance of non-timber forest products (NTFP) as part of Indonesia's efforts to achieve the 2030 FOLU Net Sink target.

The event, which took place in Makassar, South Sulawesi, from August 4–7, 2026, was organized by the Directorate General of Sustainable Forest Management (Ditjen PHL). A total of 25 participants from the Sustainable Forest Management Centers (BPHL), Social Forestry Centers, Forest Management Units (KPH), and Forest Farmer Groups attended training and competency tests in accordance with the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the field of Non-Timber Forest Product Utilization (HHBK).

Director of Forest Revenue and Administration, Krisdianto, stated that the technical staff of GANISPH play a strategic role in ensuring the utilization of forest products is administratively orderly, accountable, and in accordance with legal regulations.

"In order to realize the governance of forest resource utilization that is administratively orderly, accountable, and in accordance with legal regulations, the role of GANISPH is needed to ensure that the rights of the state are fulfilled," Krisdianto said while opening the event.

According to him, the improvement of technical staff competencies is an important foundation for strengthening transparent and sustainable forest governance. The professionalism and integrity of the GANISPH are also considered to play a role in ensuring the optimization of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the forestry sector.

"GANISPH is the champion of PNBP. It is in the hands of GANISPH that the orderly administration of forest resource utilization begins." "Meticulousness, integrity, and professionalism in managing forest product administration become the foundation to ensure the fulfillment of state rights thru non-tax state revenue," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPHL Region XV Makassar, Sudarmalik, stated that non-timber forest products have significant economic potential in improving the welfare of communities around forest areas without diminishing the ecological functions of the forest. Therefore, its management requires technical personnel with competence according to national standards.
