RRI.CO.ID, Soppeng - The Ministry of Forestry continues to strengthen the development of human resource quality in the forestry sector thru field-based learning. These efforts are carried out thru the South Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Center (KSDA) which received independent internship participants from the Makassar State Forestry Vocational School in the Lejja Nature Tourism Park (TWA) area, Soppeng Regency.

This internship program is part of the Ministry of Forestry's strategy to equip prospective mid-level forestry technical staff with real work experience at the field level. As many as five students from the State Forestry Vocational School in Makassar will participate in a one-month internship, studying various aspects of sustainable conservation area management.

The Head of the KSDA Region II of the South Sulawesi Great Hall of KSDA, Mustari Tepu, stated that the internship activities serve as a platform for character and competency development for students to be ready to face future challenges in forest management.

"Work experience thru independent internships becomes an important asset in facing various challenges in the field, especially related to the introduction of biodiversity and ecosystem potential, prevention of forest security disturbances, and the development of natural tourism potential. Thru this internship, students can enhance their professionalism as a foundation to become better Forestry Workers," said Mustari in his written statement, Monday, July 27, 2026.

During their internship at the TWA Lejja Resort, students will receive direct guidance from field officers in various forestry technical activities. These activities include the inventory of invasive alien species, area security patrols with Forestry Police, and mapping the potential for ecotourism.

Head of the KSDA Section for Region III Soppeng, Raduan, emphasized that they are ready to provide a learning space for students to understand professional forest management practices.

"Field experience is very important to shape the competence and character of prospective mid-level forestry technical staff so that they have a comprehensive understanding of professional forest management practices. We at the field unit are ready to provide a quality learning space," Raduan conveyed.

Thru this hands-on internship program, the Ministry of Forestry hopes to produce a new generation of forestry successors who possess competence, dedication, and concern for the sustainability of Indonesia's forests. This activity also serves as a step to accelerates human resource capacity to support the sustainable management of conservation areas.
