KBRN, Helsinki: Indonesian Embassy in Helsinki, Finland, set up a booth at the 2025 Helsinki Coffee Festival (HCF). The largest coffee event in the Nordic region was held from Friday to Sunday (25-27/4/2025) at the Helsinki Cable Factory (Kaapelitehdas). The booth presence, named "KOPI INDONESIA" (Indonesian Coffee), was opened to unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen Indonesia’s trade presence globally.
According to 2022 data, coffee consumption in Finland reached 11.7 kilograms per capita per year, making the country a golden market for global coffee producers. However, Indonesia—one of the world’s largest coffee producers—currently holds less than 1% of Finland’s market share, particularly in the specialty coffee segment.
"Through its participation in HCF 2025, the Indonesian Embassy in Helsinki, in collaboration with Indonesian coffee entrepreneurs, is determined to change this," the embassy said in a statement on Tuesday (29/4/2025).
The booth featured diaspora-owned businesses, such as Nua Rasa, Meramanis, and MyBali Coffee. These companies established a direct bridge from coffee plantations in Sumatra, Java, and Bali to European consumers. By promoting direct trade principles, they uphold the highest quality standards while sharing the authentic stories behind every bean.
"The KOPI INDONESIA booth attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic visitors, ranging from café owners to coffee distributors. Many were familiar with Indonesian coffee, while others were discovering the archipelago’s rich flavors for the first time," the statement added.
According to the embassy, Indonesia’s focus on specialty coffee aligns well with Finland’s consumer trends, which stress quality and product origin stories. By building brand recognition and market trust, Indonesia is laying the foundation for long-term trade expansion, not only for coffee but also for other products.
