RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Credit Card (KKI), an initiative launched by Bank Indonesia (BI), has attracted strong public interest. Within a month, 32,457 KKI cards had been issued.

Since the program was launched on Aug. 17, 2026, only eight banks have been authorized to issue KKI cards. “Of the total number of KKIs issued, nearly 8,000 are being used for active transactions,” BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta said during a press conference at the central bank's headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The banks authorized to issue KKI are Bank Central Asia (BCA), Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), CIMB Niaga, PermataBank, Bank Mega and Bank Syariah Indonesia.

Filianingsih said BCA had recorded the highest number of KKI users, at around 28,000. BRI and PermataBank followed, each with about 1,500 users.

“In total, KKI recorded 38,800 transactions, with a nominal value of IDR 18.7 billion. The average transaction value was around IDR 482,000,” she said.

For now, KKI serves only as a funding source for transactions made through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS). It will later be developed to support online payments and be issued in physical form.

Filianingsih said KKI could help people who need access to funds. “KKI is a form of deferred payment, allowing people to shop now and pay a month later,” she said. (Gusti Panji)
