RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ralf Beste, has outlined opportunities for two-way high-tech investment between the two nations. He made the statement during an official visit to the Radio Republik Indonesia office in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Ambassador Beste underscored that high-tech cooperation is a strategic priority for Germany. It reminds him to actively encourage Indonesian investors to expand their businesses into the European nation.

“It's certainly also in our interest. We want to have more investments in high-tech cooperation going both ways," Beste stated. "We invite Indonesian investors to come to Germany. We also hope that investment opportunities for German companies are improved in Indonesia.”

Beyond direct business expansion, this two-way initiative is envisioned as a foundational pillar for human resource development. Ambassador Beste noted that joint training programs could play a pivotal role in boosting the technical capabilities of the younger generation in both countries.

“That would be the basis for also having cooperation when it comes to skilling people. We invest a lot of money into providing good studying opportunities for engineers, engineering students, for example, coming to Germany,” he said.

To support this vision, the German government continues to leverage its long-standing tuition-free higher education system to attract international talent. This academic pathway is designed to create a pipeline of skilled graduates ready to step into high-tech roles within German enterprises.

“Studying in Germany is free of tuition, which is maybe an attractive offer," Beste added. "And the more we can invest into the skill of Indonesian workforce, then we have investment by German companies in the high-tech sector. Then we find job opportunities for young Indonesians in German companies.”

Just over a week prior, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, expressed a strong desire to expand overseas employment opportunities for the domestic workforce. This intention was conveyed in a Joint Press Statement with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026.

“Indonesia also aims to expand job opportunities for Indonesian workers in Germany, including in the high-tech sector,” President Prabowo affirmed.
