RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with the Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants Association (HIPPINDO), has launched the Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Holiday and Back-to-School 2026 program.
Running from June 8 to July 12, 2026, the initiative encourages the public to shop exclusively for Indonesian products during the school holidays, aiming to boost domestic consumption.
“We are optimistic that this program can accelerate national economic activity and generate transactions totaling IDR 30 trillion (approximately USD 1.64 billion),” said Deputy Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, in Jakarta on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Roro noted that the national economy has shown a positive trend at the beginning of this year, with 5.61 percent year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2026. Household consumption rose 5.52 percent, contributing 54.36 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Additionally, the trade sector grew by 6.26 percent year-on-year. The Real Sales Index increased by 4.74 percent, while digital trade transactions continued to rise.
According to Roro, these achievements indicate that public consumption remains stable, serving as a crucial foundation for sustaining national economic growth.
“Through the Campuspreneur program and the Link and Match initiative connecting student-run MSMEs with retailers, we are fostering the emergence of more innovative young entrepreneurs who understand market needs and have access to modern retail marketing networks,” she said.
She added that the Ministry continues to encourage SMEs to expand their export markets and integrate into the global supply chain. These efforts are supported by a network of 46 Indonesian trade representatives across 33 countries.
“We urge SME operators to utilize the facilities and networks of Indonesian trade representatives to explore market opportunities in various countries,” Roro said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, believes the program can boost domestic tourism and increase consumer spending during the school break.
The government has prepared various transportation incentives to support public mobility, including discounts on train and sea transport tickets, as well as incentives for the aviation sector.
“The school holiday period is the perfect time to increase domestic tourist visits and boost public consumption. The BINA Holiday and Back-to-School 2026 program is highly relevant as it links tourism activities with the purchase of Indonesian products,” Ni Luh Puspa said.
The program is a collaborative initiative involving the retail sector, shopping centers, tourism, transportation, hospitality, the culinary sector, the creative economy, and MSMEs. It aims to increase domestic shopping and tourism activities during the school holidays.
HIPPINDO Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah stated that the program is part of efforts to boost the national economy. “This collaboration aims to encourage the public to shop and travel within Indonesia, with a target of generating an economic turnover of IDR 30 trillion,” he said.
BINA is a shopping program initiated by HIPPINDO and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in 2024. During the BINA Lebaran 2026 implementation, the program recorded transactions totaling IDR 54.9 trillion, surpassing the target of IDR 53.38 trillion. (Gusti Panji)
