RRI.CO.ID, Boston - The Director General of National Export Development at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, announced a remarkable achievement for fisheries products. Indonesia’s top products successfully recorded potential transactions totaling IDR 419 billion (USD 24.54 million) at the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2026.

This positive achievement was attained during the exhibition held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC). Indonesia’s active participation demonstrates the strong global competitiveness of its seafood products.

Puntodewi stated that this transaction potential reflects the high global market interest in Indonesian seafood products. “Interest in flagship commodities such as shrimp and tuna remains strong, supported by positive perceptions of product quality,” said Puntodewi in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Puntodewi emphasized that quality and supply consistency are the primary determinants of buyer interest. Indonesian businesses are also considered highly committed to traceability practices that meet international standards.

The Indonesian Trade Attaché in Washington, D.C., Ranitya Kusumadewi, highlighted the success of more than 50 business meetings. These Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings involved major US importers.

“Indonesian seafood products such as tuna, shrimp, red snapper, octopus, squid, and tilapia received positive feedback regarding quality, price, and supply consistency. In addition to direct transactions, several exploratory cooperation initiatives also have the potential to develop into purchase contracts in the coming months,” said Ranitya.

Ranitya noted that commodities such as tuna and red snapper received particularly positive feedback. This cooperation is projected to continue developing into broader long-term purchase contracts.

The Indonesian Pavilion presented the theme “Indonesian Seafood: Naturally Diverse, Safe, and Sustainable” in an exhibition area spanning 55.7 square meters. The branding of commodities was carried out through various strategic subthemes to highlight the richness of Indonesia’s marine resources.

Ranitya also held a strategic meeting with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The discussion addressed food safety standards and regulations under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).

“This meeting addressed critical issues such as food safety standards and MMPA implementation. Additionally, the meeting discussed trade policy dynamics that could potentially impact market access for Indonesian fishery products,” said Ranitya.

Ranitya noted that Indonesia’s seafood sector continues to have very solid demand fundamentals. “Indonesia is recognized as a partner that can adapt to market dynamics, quality standards, and global regulatory developments,” she said.

The owner and Director of PT Sari Tuna Makmur, Sugito Wahid, stated that this event serves as a strategic promotional opportunity to reach new buyers while effectively strengthening relationships with existing buyers. “For our company, building strong relationships and maintaining long-term partnerships are the cornerstones,” he said.

The Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2026 attracted over 1,200 participants worldwide. Indonesia successfully highlighted its position as a producer of safe, sustainable seafood to 20,000 visitors.
