RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has confirmed that the Technical Consideration (Pertek) system for textile imports follows the principles of good governance. Minister Agus stated that institutionally, the ministry does not tolerate any form of illegal import practices or abuse of authority.

The government consistently strengthens internal integrity to prevent the recurrence of fraudulent practices in the manufacturing sector. The ministry guarantees that the import recommendation issuance process is conducted transparently and accountably in accordance with regulations.

The Ministry's spokesperson, Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, stated that the indication of suspicious funds amounting to IDR 12.49 trillion (approx. USD 744.87 million) in the textile trade sector's accounts was not related to the issuance of Pertek. “The Ministry supports the findings of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and the legal process regarding these findings,” said Febri in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Febri said that all Pertek issuance procedures were well documented in a traceable system. The Ministry always maintains ongoing communication with business actors and associations to strengthen national import governance.

The Ministry is also working hard to improve technical policies so that the domestic textile industry remains healthy and competitive. Stakeholder feedback is an essential part of the evaluation process for improving policies.

“The evaluation also aims to strengthen cross-ministerial and inter-agency coordination to close any loopholes that could potentially be exploited,” said Febri.

Febri said the Pertek instrument covers only a small portion of Indonesia's textile import ecosystem. There are several other customs schemes that do not require the Ministry to provide direct technical recommendations.

Bonded Zones and Bonded Logistics Centers are specific import channels that fall outside the Ministry's technical authority. Therefore, discrepancies in national import data should not be immediately attributed to weaknesses in institutional governance.

The ministry remains committed to fully supporting law enforcement efforts against all forms of illegal practices. It will conduct thorough investigations if strong evidence emerges of individuals’ involvement in fraudulent activities.

The public is encouraged to report accurate information regarding irregularities in the licensing process through public service units. Internal supervision by the Inspectorate General continues to be tightened to uphold the dignity and integrity of all civil servants. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
