RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Through the "Jaksel Kompak" program, the South Jakarta City Administration has instructed all regional agencies to integrate a gender perspective into budget planning and service innovation. One measure is improving lactation room services and disability‑friendly facilities for women to advance gender equality.
“We still have homework to do. Some lactation rooms have been repurposed, disability‑friendly facilities are not yet optimal, and service innovations remain limited,” said Head of the South Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP) Sub‑Agency, Rizky Hamid, during a socialization event on Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) titled “Jaksel Kompak: Serving with Heart, Realizing Equality for All” in Jakarta on Friday, 26 June 2026.
He said gender equality is not solely a women’s issue but a way to ensure all residents receive fair, accessible and quality public services.
One practical step is strengthening the role of Integrated Child‑Friendly Public Spaces (RPTRA) as venues that support the needs of women, children and families within communities. Therefore, he emphasized that gender‑responsive mainstreaming of services is not just the PPAPP’s responsibility but the duty of all regional agencies.
“Every policy, program, budget and service must address the community’s needs in full, including women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups,” said Rizky, as quoted by Antara.
During the socialization, each agency was asked to answer three simple questions regarding necessary improvements. Specifically, they must identify which policies need to be revised for gender responsiveness, which facilities require upgrading for inclusivity, and what service innovations can be implemented immediately within their units.
“Gender mainstreaming should not remain only as socialization material. It must be visible in services, felt by the public, and become our work culture,” added Rizky.
Assistant for Administration and Public Welfare at the South Jakarta City Secretary’s Agency, Tomy Fudihartono, expressed hope that the event would increase participants’ awareness and understanding of gender equality.
“This time our theme is South Jakarta united: serving with heart, realizing equality for all. We expect this activity to become part of our work culture and the culture of serving all residents of South Jakarta,” said Tomy. ***
