RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, will host its first-ever Eid al-Fitr congregational prayer at the State Mosque in the Core Government Area (KIPP). The prayer will take place at 6:30 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) on the first day of Shawwal 1447 Hijri (2026) and will be open to the public.

This historic moment marks an important milestone in the development of Nusantara as more than just Indonesia’s administrative center. It also reflects its emergence as a center for social, cultural, and religious life.

Ahead of the celebration, a moon sighting (hilal observation) will be conducted in Nusantara on 19 March. This is part of Indonesia’s nationwide process to determine the official start of Shawwal.

According to Special Staff for Public Communication and Spokesperson of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Troy Pantouw, the Eid prayer will be accessible to all.

“We warmly invite residents and the wider community to join the Eid prayer at the State Mosque and celebrate this important occasion together,” he said on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

The sermon (khutbah) will be delivered by Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Dakwah at UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda, Professor Muhammad Abzar Duraesa. Meanwhile, the prayer will be led by Lecturer at PTIQ University Jakarta, Dr. Ahmad Muzakir.

Authorities have prepared supporting facilities to ensure a smooth and orderly event. Access to the Nusantara toll road will open at 4:30 a.m., and worshippers are encouraged to arrive early and follow on-site guidance.

Parking will be available at the mosque’s basement, with additional areas prepared nearby if needed. Shuttle bus services will also operate from residential complexes and transit hubs between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Special mobility support, including golf carts, will be provided for elderly individuals, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities. These measures aim to ensure accessibility and comfort for all attendees.

The inaugural Eid prayer at the State Mosque symbolizes the growing vibrancy of Nusantara as Indonesia’s new capital. It also highlights the country’s commitment to fostering unity, inclusivity, and spiritual life.
