RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara, is garnering increasing international and domestic attention, as more than 352,000 visitors explored the area during the recent long holiday period in March 2026.

Located in East Kalimantan, Nusantara represents Indonesia’s vision of a sustainable, inclusive, and modern city built in harmony with nature. The influx of tourists, along with more than 80,000 vehicles entering the core government district, reflects strong public curiosity and growing global interest in the country’s ambitious capital relocation project.

Authorities from the Nusantara Capital Authority ensured that public services, safety, and visitor facilities operated smoothly throughout the holiday period. The coordinated efforts involved multiple stakeholders, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Indonesian National Police, as well as local authorities and healthcare personnel, reflecting Indonesia’s collaborative and inclusive governance approach.

Visitors were particularly drawn to key landmarks such as the State Palace area and the National Mosque within the Core Government District, as well as public spaces designed to encourage social interaction and cultural exchange. Open areas like ceremonial plazas and green spaces offered not only scenic experiences but also insight into the city’s human-centered urban design.

Nusantara also provides educational experiences for visitors. At its information centers, guests can explore interactive exhibitions, scale models, and digital simulations that present the city’s development progress and long-term vision.

During the visit period, on-site personnel encountered various real-life situations while assisting visitors. Sri Wahyuni, a security officer, highlighted the human side of public service.

“There are always unique moments. Sometimes parents ask us to help find their children or assist in locating lost belongings,” Sri said.

International visitors have also expressed admiration for Nusantara’s concept. Michael De Jong shared his perspective.

“The architecture is beautiful and clean, and it is very comfortable for walking. It is amazing to see a modern city built in the middle of a forest. I hope the government will continue to protect the forest and live in harmony with nature,” he said.

Similarly, Anke De Jong emphasized the city’s uniqueness.

“This city is something people must see. If you are in Kalimantan, you should take time to visit because it is very different,” Anke said.

For domestic visitors, the experience is equally meaningful. Sopiansah described his journey.

“This was our first visit, and although the journey was far, the roads are now much better. The trip was smooth and comfortable, and the city is very beautiful. We are happy to see it lively with visitors from many regions,” he said.

Concluding the holiday period, Troy Pantouw, Special Staff for Public Communication, expressed appreciation and extended an open invitation to the global community.

“We thank everyone who supported public services during the holiday period, including media and content creators who shared accurate information about Nusantara. Seeing is believing. People can witness not only the buildings but also the growing ecosystem. Nusantara belongs to all of us, and together we can build a better future for Indonesia,” Troy said.

Through this growing engagement, Nusantara serves as more than a national development project. It becomes a catalyst for engagement, inviting the global community to witness, understand, and participate in Indonesia’s journey toward sustainable and inclusive urban development.
