RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The State-owned Power Company PT. PLN Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit (UID) has guaranteed a reliable electricity supply for 519 mosques across the capital. This measure ensures that the upcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri year prayers in Jakarta and its surrounding areas are conducted safely, comfortably, and in an orderly manner.
Special monitoring for the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri alert period will focus on two primary locations: the Istiqlal Mosque and the Presidential Palace. These sites serve as the central hubs for worship and official gatherings.
Head of the Riayah Department of the Istiqlal Mosque Management Board, Zainuri Anwar, expressed his appreciation for PLN’s commitment to securing power stability, particularly during significant Islamic holidays.
“We highly appreciate PLN for supporting all activities at Istiqlal through a reliable electricity supply,” he remarked on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
One key initiative includes the installation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of up to 400 KVA.
Beyond religious sites, PLN is providing dedicated monitoring for five strategic zones throughout the 2026 Ramadan period. These include Monas, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Ancol Festival Beach, Kota Tua, and Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park (TMII).
PLN projects that the power supply for the UID Jakarta Raya working area will remain secure during Ramadan 2026. The available supply capacity has reached 10,997 megawatts, comfortably covering the projected peak load of 5,545 megawatts.
This capacity represents a 5.86% increase compared to the electrical conditions in the same region in 2025. For the Eid al-Fitr celebration on 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri year, the peak load is expected to reach 3,886 megawatts, a 1.3% rise from the previous year’s holiday peak. To manage this, PLN has deployed personnel, specialized equipment, and standby posts to maintain system integrity.
“We ensure that the electrical system in Jakarta and its surroundings is in a secure condition. This will support all community activities from Ramadan through the Eid al-Fitr celebrations," said General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
