Hasanuddin University and Nippon Koei Partner for Tech Innovation

RRI.CO.ID, Makassar – Hasanuddin University in Makassar, South Sulawesi and Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. are redefining academic-industrial synergy by launching a strategic partnership in applied research and infrastructure management.

As reported by Antara, moving beyond traditional ceremonial agreements, this collaboration aims to establish a world-class framework for technology transfer. This initiative also focuses on institutional capacity building within South Sulawesi.

“We design this collaboration as an output-based partnership, not just a formality. The focus is on strengthening applied research, technology transfer, and forming a management unit capable of operating at international standards,” remarked Adi Maulana, Hasanuddin University Deputy Rector for Partnerships, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business, in Makassar on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The blueprint for this alliance includes the development of shared laboratory facilities and the creation of a dedicated technology management unit. This operational model is expected to bolster the expertise of both faculty and students through collaborative research initiatives and academic exchange programs.

Adi Maulana further emphasized that the scheme is anticipated to yield concrete results, such as joint publications and technological prototypes. These outputs will also include infrastructure planning models and research-based policy recommendations.

Nippon Koei has expressed strong confidence in the university's academic rigor and its role in regional development. Taro Koike, Deputy Chief Representative of the Jakarta Office for Nippon Koei, praised the university's commitment to building a collaboration oriented toward technological advancement and institutional scaling.

He noted that the partnership is vital for both institutions as it opens a more structured space for collaboration in applied research and technical capacity development.
