RRI.CO.ID, Banda Aceh - The Aceh chapter of the Family Planning Councellor Association (IPeKB) is partnering with medical groups to deliver health checks and education for pregnant women in areas ravaged by hydrometeorological disasters to curb stunting rates while supporting the community's broader recovery efforts.

IPeKB Aceh Chairperson Zulfikar highlighted this collaboration during a statement in Banda Aceh on Monday, January 3, 2026. He framed the initiative as a form of active community involvement in tackling stunting across disaster-affected regions.

"We continue to strengthen our collaboration with various sectors of society to address and prevent stunting in disaster-affected areas. This is also an integral part of accelerating community recovery in the aftermath of disasters," he said, as quoted by Antara.

Among the key partnerships is a collaboration with the Aceh branch of the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Association (POGI). This alliance focuses on bolstering women's reproductive health counseling as a core strategy for stunting prevention.

Zulfikar noted that IPeKB and POGI have scheduled joint activities in Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, including prenatal check-ups and stunting awareness campaigns.

"The activity is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2026, and will involve visiting several disaster-affected villages in Peusangan Subdistrict. The primary targets are pregnant women, alongside the provision of education regarding stunting," said Zulfikar.

He expressed hope that these initiatives would inspire broader community action to prevent stunting and accelerate its decline. This engagement is expected to continue even as residents navigate the challenges of post-disaster recovery.

"Providing guidance for pregnant women is crucial, as it represents a collective effort in early prevention for families at risk of stunting, ensuring that no more babies are born with the condition," added Zulfikar.

POGI Aceh Chairperson, Purnama Setia Budi, described the alliance with extension agents as vital for strengthening community health. He noted that the initiative particularly targets pregnant women and at-risk families living in disaster zones.

"Similar activities are being carried out not only in Bireuen Regency but also in other disaster-affected cities and regencies across Aceh Province. We hope that this collaboration with the extension agents' association can strengthen family resilience and stunting prevention in the post-disaster period," said Purnama Setia Budi. ***
