RRI.CO.ID, Jayapura - The Papua Provincial Administration has dispatched humanitarian aid to families affected by a World War II-era bomb explosion in the Fisheries Complex of Fandoi village, Biak Kota District, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua. This move underscores provincial officials’ commitment to meet immediate needs and support recovery.

Papua Deputy Governor, Aryoko A.F. Rumaropen, said on Monday, 15 June 2026, that the aid was sent after officials visited the site to assess damage and identify next steps.

"On Saturday, 13 June 2026, we conducted a visit to residents affected by the explosion of a World War II-era bomb in the Fisheries Complex, Fandoi village, Biak Kota Subdistrict, Biak Numfor Regency. During the visit, the Papua Provincial Administration observed the conditions directly so that further steps can be taken," he said, as quoted by Antara.

The package delivered includes 60 sacks of rice (10 kilograms each), 90 kilograms of granulated sugar, 60 cartons of instant noodles, and 90 liters of cooking oil.

"All assistance was distributed through the Papua Province Social Affairs, Population and Civil Registration Agency and received by representatives of the affected community," said Aryoko.

He expressed the provincial administration's condolences to the residents of Biak Numfor and urged strength and patience for those impacted. "We also will continue to ensure that the basic needs of residents remain a top priority so that community activities can gradually return to normal."

Aryoko emphasized that local administration presence, both moral and material, is essential during emergencies, and called for continued solidarity. “The Papua Provincial Administration will continue to be present among the people, especially when facing emergency and disaster situations. The spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation must be maintained to help our brothers and sisters who are experiencing difficulties.” ***
