Pidie Jaya Extends Disaster Emergency Status for Fifth Time

RRI.CO.ID, Pidie Jaya – The Pidie Jaya Regency Administration in Aceh has taken further decisive action in post-disaster management. The Regent of Pidie Jaya, Sibral Malasyi, has officially extended the disaster emergency response period for the fifth time.
This 14-day extension is effective from January 29 through February 12, 2026, serves as a strategic measure by the local administration to ensure that emergency handling remains optimal and well-coordinated. The decision stems from the ongoing complexity of the disaster's impact on the community.
Regent Sibral Malasyi emphasized that the emergency status provides a vital legal framework to accelerate essential services. These services include the distribution of logistics, healthcare, clean water access, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
"This status is also crucial for expediting the provision of temporary housing for residents who lost their homes due to the disaster," said the Regent in an official brief on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The Regent expressed his hope for strengthened cross-sector synergy between the government, Indonesian Military, the National Police, humanitarian agencies, and volunteers. This collaboration aims to ensure all emergency efforts are executed swiftly, accurately, and equitably.
The decision to extend this status is expected to deliver tangible benefits to the affected population. Furthermore, it will serve as a solid foundation for transitioning into the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases.
