RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – A total of eight digital platforms have now been declared compliant with Indonesia’s child protection regulations, including the latest one, TikTok. However, the Indonesian government notes that other major platforms such as Roblox and YouTube have not yet fully complied with the Government Regulation on the Governance of Electronic System Operations for Child Protection or PP Tunas.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, expressed appreciation to the TikTok application for showing its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to protect Indonesia’s younger generation in their use of digital spaces. This protection effort is set out in the PP Tunas, which has just been launched.

According to the minister, TikTok has officially submitted a formal letter declaring its commitment to compliance to the government and has raised the minimum user age limit to 16 years. Meutya also highlighted TikTok’s transparency as the first platform to report data on the removal of accounts belonging to children under 16.

“TikTok has become the first platform to report that, as of April 10, 2026, TikTok had deactivated 780 thousand accounts belonging to children under 16 in Indonesia. This is an initial victory for the public, for parents, and for children in Indonesia,” she said.

A different situation applies to Roblox and YouTube. The Indonesian government has firmly stated that it cannot yet accept their compliance commitments because security gaps are still found in their communication features, and their age-limit policies are considered not strong enough.

In response to these issues, Meutya confirmed that her office remains open to dialogue in order to seek the best solution.

Meutya stated, “We will continue to communicate, both formally and informally, in discussions regarding features with the two platforms that have not yet complied, namely Roblox and YouTube.”

She said that, so far, eight platforms have declared their commitment to compliance, including X, Bigo Live, Meta Group platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok. For other platforms that have not yet complied with the regulations, the Indonesian government is giving them three months to submit their risk profile assessment reports.
