Wamenpora Highlights Sport’s Role in Strengthening National Unity

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Taufik Hidayat highlighted the role of sports in strengthening national unity during his visit to Rumah Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The visit took place after Indonesia added another gold medal through the men’s doubles badminton event. Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin won the gold medal after defeating China’s Lang Weikeng and Wang Chang.

According to Taufik, the presence of Rumah Indonesia at the Asian Games demonstrates how sports can provide a space that brings together people from different backgrounds.

“Rumah Indonesia, especially at an event as major as the Asian Games, proves that sports can bring everyone together. Here, the media can meet athletes, and people can interact with one another. Sports can unite the nation. Long live sports,” Taufik said.

The atmosphere at Rumah Indonesia was warm and friendly. Athletes who had completed their events were treated to a variety of Indonesian dishes specially prepared by the Indonesian Chef de Mission team.

Rumah Indonesia at the Asian Games in Nagoya serves not only as a coordination and support center for the Indonesian delegation, but also as a gathering place and source of moral support for Indonesian athletes competing at the 2026 Asian Games.

“I think the presence of Rumah Indonesia is very good because it provides a space for people to meet and strengthen their bonds,” he explained.
