Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi Wins Gold in Krakow Speed Climbing

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi delivered a stunning performance to claim the women’s speed individual gold medal at the World Climbing Series Krakow 2026 in Poland on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Assistant coach Fitriyani praised the achievement, calling it the result of collective hard work. “Alhamdulillah (All praise to Allah), Desak won gold. This is the fruit of the athlete’s and team’s dedication,” she said, as quoted by Antara.

According to the World Climbing platform, Desak clocked 6.54 seconds in the final, held in a four-lane format. She outpaced Poland’s Natalia Kalucka (silver, 6.62 seconds) and the USA’s Emma Hunt (bronze, 11.37 seconds). The final also featured Poland’s Aleksandra Miroslaw, one of the sport’s top contenders.

Earlier, Desak advanced from the semifinals after competing against Hunt, Kalucka, and China’s Yuju Mou, while Kalucka faced Miroslaw, Spain’s Leslie Adriana Romero Perez, and Ukraine’s Polina Khalkevych. The two fastest climbers from each lane progressed to the final, setting up Desak’s decisive victory.

Indonesia fielded seven athletes in Krakow, including three women--Desak, Raji’ah Sallsabillah, and Kadek Adi Asih--and four men: Raharjati Nursamsa, Aditya Tri Syahria, Veddriq Leonardo, and Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi.

While Raji’ah and Kadek exited in the quarterfinals, the team also competed in men’s, women’s, and mixed relay events. Desak’s triumph not only adds to Indonesia’s growing reputation in speed climbing but also highlights the nation’s depth of talent in the discipline. ***
