RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's weightlifting team will enter the 2026 Asian Games with preparation covering physical and technical development, mental readiness, competition strategy and performance evaluation.

Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) Secretary General Djoko Pramono said the team, including Rizki Juniansyah, has undergone thorough preparation ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Djoko said the preparation has not focused solely on improving athletes’ physical and technical abilities, but also on strengthening their mental readiness, refining competition strategies and evaluating their performances based on training and competitions.

"We hope all athletes can reach their best condition and deliver their maximum performance in Aichi-Nagoya," Djoko Pramono said in an official statement on Monday, September 14, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

"The most important thing is for the athletes to focus on the process and carry out what has been prepared together with the coaching team," he added, expressing hope that the team can compete with confidence, maintain focus and give its best performance for Indonesia.

Separately, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Marciano Norman said that being part of the Indonesian contingent is both an honor and a major responsibility for the athletes.

He urged the athletes not to focus solely on results, but also to demonstrate the character, sportsmanship, discipline and fighting spirit of Indonesian athletes.

"You are not only carrying your own name and that of your team, but also the good name of Indonesia. Therefore, compete with enthusiasm and uphold sportsmanship and respect for fellow athletes," Marciano said.

Indonesia will field eight weightlifters at the Asian Games. In the men’s category, Indonesia will compete in the 60 kg, 65 kg, 75 kg and 85 kg classes, while the women’s team will compete in the 49 kg, 53 kg, 61 kg and 69 kg classes. ***
