Prabowo Prepares 3 Billion Rupiah Bonus for 2026 Asian Games Gold Medalists

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto has prepared a bonus of 3 billion rupiah for Indonesian athletes who win gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The event will be held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

He announced the incentive while sending off the Indonesian contingent for the 20th Asian Games at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. He said the government would provide appreciation for athletes who bring pride to Indonesia through their achievements at the Asian sporting event.

“I was informed by Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir that gold medalists at the SEA Games receive 1 billion rupiah. But this is the Asian Games, so gold medalists will receive a bonus of 3 billion rupiah,” Prabowo said.

He also assured that athletes winning silver and bronze medals would receive recognition from the government. He added that the government would pay attention to the welfare and career development of coaches and sports officials.

“There are those who say, ‘Sir, I have been in the same position for years and have not been promoted. This also includes coaches, right?” he stated.

President also highlighted the contribution of coaches, sports officials, and other stakeholders involved in developing Indonesia's athletes. He said managing sports organizations was not an easy task and required significant commitment and sacrifice to ensure the continued development of athletes.

“Because you lead while also making sacrifices,” President said. He expressed hope that the government's support and encouragement from the Indonesian people would provide additional motivation for the national contingent to deliver their best performances and achieve strong results for Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games.
