RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is targeting a return to the global stage in women’s tennis, banking on its SEA Games gold medal-winning squad to secure a top-two finish at the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group I.

Indonesia is aiming to qualify for the Billie Jean King Cup playoffs by finishing among the top two teams at the Asia/Oceania Group I event in New Delhi, India, scheduled for April 7-11, 2026, team captain Christopher Rungkat said.

“This is the same team from the 2025 SEA Games. We are optimistic, especially with Janice, Aldila, and Priska as our key pillars,” Christopher Rungkat said on Monday, April 6, as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia is represented by its 2025 SEA Games women’s team gold medalists: Janice Tjen, Aldila Sutjiadi, Priska Nugroho, Anjali Junarto, and Meydiana Reinnamah.

“I am very confident we can finish in the top two, because the top two countries will be promoted to the playoff,” he added.

The Billie Jean King Cup Group I ties will feature three matches, two singles and one doubles. The top two teams will advance to the playoff qualifiers in November, while the bottom two will be relegated to Group II Asia/Oceania in 2027.

Indonesia will compete against five other nations: New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea, Mongolia, and host India.

“So, yes, we are very optimistic, and the team feels the same. Training has gone well today, and Aldila and Janice have already had two days of practice as we adapt to the time difference from the United States,” he continued.

Aldila and Janice arrived in India after competing at the Charleston Open. In the WTA 500 tournament, the pair exited in the first round of the doubles event after losing to top seeds Aleksandra Krunic and Zhang Shuai.

In singles, Janice, seeded 12th and receiving a first-round bye, was eliminated in the second round.

Priska arrived in India after competing at the ITF W100 Luan in China, where she was knocked out in the second round of singles but finished as doubles runner-up alongside Australia’s Alexandra Osborne. ***
