RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) boost cooperation to address increasingly complex narcotics threats. The cooperation focuses on improving coordination, information sharing, prevention, and early detection.
Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KASAU), Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, and Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Suyudi Ario Seto, discussed opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions in Jakarta on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The cooperation includes strengthening interdiction efforts at airports, developing integrated intelligence data, mapping narcotics smuggling patterns, and strengthening early warning systems.
The strengthened cooperation is part of joint efforts to prevent drug abuse and illicit trafficking, including responding to changing modus operandi used by narcotics networks that exploit various distribution routes, including airports and airspace.
The Chief of Staff also said the Indonesian Air Force has continued to support efforts to prevent and monitor narcotics trafficking, particularly through security measures at airports.
“The Indonesian Air Force is also committed to maintaining zero tolerance for narcotics abuse within the organization,” he said.
Meanwhile, BNN Head Suyudi Ario Seto, said narcotics-related threats are evolving rapidly in terms of types, forms, and distribution methods. He said the situation requires cross-agency cooperation to strengthen law enforcement, prevention, rehabilitation, and community empowerment.
In addition to external cooperation, the Indonesian Air Force and BNN also discussed strengthening internal prevention efforts through the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) program.
The program includes public awareness activities, early detection, examinations, and efforts to improve personnel and their families’ understanding of the development and risks of narcotics abuse.
