RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri has encouraged local businesses to leverage Indonesia’s overseas trade representative network to expand access to global markets. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian products and connect businesses with potential international buyers.

Deputy Minister Roro made the statement during a visit to a local footwear manufacturer in Bandung, West Java, on Monday, September 14, 2026. She said Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centres (ITPCs) could be optimized to create new business opportunities for Indonesian products in international markets.

Roro said Indonesia’s overseas trade representatives are tasked with helping businesses identify potential buyers and markets abroad. “So, we have Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centres whose networks can be optimized, because we have given them a specific task to find buyers and overseas markets,” Roro said.

According to Roro, business pitching and business matching do not always require face-to-face meetings, as they can also be conducted online. “And business pitching and business matching can be conducted online, so before visiting directly, or even without having to visit, a deal can be made on the spot online,” she said.

The approach provides Indonesian businesses with a more efficient way to reach potential international partners. The government expects the use of overseas trade networks to help local products enter new markets while strengthening Indonesia’s trade relations with partner countries.

Roro also encouraged businesses to take advantage of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 as an opportunity to conduct business matching with buyers from various countries. The event serves as one of Indonesia’s key trade promotion platforms for connecting domestic products with international markets.

At TEI 2025, the exhibition attracted 8,045 buyers from various countries, highlighting the opportunities available to Indonesian businesses seeking to expand their international networks. Beyond business matching at the exhibition, access to overseas trade representatives is expected to help businesses follow up on potential partnerships after the event.

The expansion of market access is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian products in global markets while supporting the country’s export performance. The government views collaboration between local businesses and Indonesia’s overseas trade representatives as an important step toward bringing more Indonesian products to international consumers.
