RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR RI) has appointed Destry Damayanti as Governor, Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor, and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor of Indonesia's central bank, Bank Indonesia (BI), for the 2026–2031 term. The decision was made by consensus after the candidates completed the series of fit and proper tests.

Deputy Chairperson of the House's Commission XI, Fauzi Amro, said that the decision was the result of discussions and assessments by Commission XI – dealing with finance and development planning issues. They tested their track record, capacity, and vision and ideas in carrying out their duties as BI leaders.

"Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, based on deliberation to reach a consensus, approved and appointed (them)," Fauzi said in a release, as quoted from the House's website on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The decision was made after the DPR completed a series of fit and proper tests on four candidates over two days, from Wednesday, August 26, 2026 to Thursday, August 27, 2026. During the in-depth review process, House members explored various aspects related to the direction of monetary policy, rupiah stability, economic growth, payment systems, strengthening the financial sector, and policy synergy between BI and the government.

He stated that Commission XI's decision would then be submitted to the House plenary session for approval, in accordance with the House's institutional mechanisms. After obtaining approval, the next step will be to follow the Bank Indonesia leadership appointment process, as stipulated in laws and regulations.

"Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives will follow up on the results of this internal meeting to be submitted and determined at the DPR RI Plenary Session on Tuesday, September 1, 2026," Fauzi said.

Destry is an economist who has served as Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia since 2019. She was appointed as the Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia in late July after the previous governor, Perry Warjiyo, stepped down "for personal reasons".
