RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) targets the Asset Confiscation Bill and a decision in a plenary session to be completed no later than December 15, 2026. The House's website on Thursday, August 27, 2026, claimed this as their commitment to respond to public aspirations.
"The latest deadline for the Asset Confiscation Bill to be ratified in the Plenary Session is December 15, 2026," Deputy Speaker of the House, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said during an audience with the United Pati People's Alliance (AMPB) of Pati Regency, Central Java, at the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
This commitment was also outlined in a written statement signed by the House leadership, in which the speakers also expressed readiness to resign from their positions if the bill was not finalized by the specified deadline. At the request of the AMPB, this clause was later expanded to include a readiness to resign not only from leadership positions but also as DPR members.
Dasco stated that finalizing the Asset Confiscation Bill still requires comprehensive deliberation. He said the House is still open to public input in the next phase of deliberations.
"There are still public opinion listening sessions. Well, those can be scheduled later; it's just a matter of when and when," Dasco said.
According to him, AMPB and other groups can be invited again to provide more comprehensive input. This input is expected to contribute to the Asset Confiscation Bill before it enters the final stages of deliberation.
"So that later we can schedule a more comprehensive input to enrich the bill (content)," he said.
He emphasized that the public aspirations are a crucial part of the regulatory drafting process. Therefore, the House said it continues to provide space for public participation so the Asset Confiscation Bill can be drafted comprehensively and meet the needs of eradicating crime.
