RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's custom automotive sector is being positioned as a high-value export powerhouse as the government seeks to bridge traditional craftsmanship with the modern digital economy. During a visit to Motovillage in Jakarta on Friday, April 24, 2026, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, highlighted the strategic importance of local innovation in capturing international markets.

The Deputy Minister engaged in a direct dialogue with industry players to better understand the evolving needs of the sector, which has already seen local creators successfully ship custom products abroad.

"Of course, we are learning about this new industry. For local, national, and export industries, so that we can have added value for exports," said Irene Umar in an official release confirmed on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Beyond physical exports, the Ministry is casting a spotlight on the intersection of automotive culture and digital innovation. The Deputy Minister noted that content creators play a vital role in promoting Indonesia’s regional potential through automotive media.

Furthermore, the government is encouraging the development of digital assets as a new revenue stream for the creative community.

"Regarding digital assets, it is not just about playing, but we expect to be able to sell the digital asset. So it is not only from the creativity side but can also increase economic aspects, especially in the digital world," she explained, as quoted by Antara.

The venue of the visit, Motovillage, serves as a comprehensive hub for the two-wheel community, integrating showrooms, workshops, and creative spaces into a single ecosystem.

Motovillage founder, Umar Lubis, welcomed the government's renewed focus, expressing optimism that concrete support would accelerate the growth of the creative network.

"We very much hope that in the near future there will be concrete attention toward the creative automotive industry in Indonesia. We are ready to be a hub to help," said Umar.

The Ministry of Creative Economy aims to foster a stronger synergy between the government and private sector. By formalizing this collaboration, they intend to transform the custom automotive subsector into a globally competitive component of Indonesia’s broader creative economy ecosystem. ***
