RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A custom modified car built by Indonesian automotive builders, named the BMW Passato, will be showcased at the prestigious SEMA Show 2026 at Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada, United States, scheduled to run from November 3 to 6, 2026.
The National Modificator & Aftermarket Association (NMAA), in partnership with the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), officially dispatched the vehicle during an unveiling ceremony at Museum Joang '45 in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Built from a 2010 BMW 320, the NMAA-IMI SEMA Project 2026 merges technical engineering, local builder craftsmanship, and Nusantara cultural motifs.
The collaborative project involves domestic aftermarket players, including Rain Works, Musartwork, Tomi Airbrush, Garasi Drift, 54 Metal Craft, AirBFT, WetGloss, and Passato Garage, aimed at promoting Indonesian automotive craftsmanship and securing opportunities within the global aftermarket supply chain.
Automotive association leaders and industry officials emphasized that showcasing local modification projects on global stages proves the international competitiveness of Indonesian creative talent.
IMI Chairman Moreno Soeprapto highlighted the historical and patriotic significance of the initiative. "The presence of a vehicle created by the nation's youth in Las Vegas represents a modern form of struggle to bring honor to the country in the global aftermarket industry," he said, as quoted by Antara.
Founder of NMAA and Director of Modification at IMI Andre Mulyadi noted that the project demonstrates the maturity of the domestic modification ecosystem.
"The dispatch of the BMW Passato to SEMA Show 2026 shows that the modification work of local builders possesses quality and competitiveness at the international level. This also serves as proof that the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo (IMX) has become an essential ecosystem in fostering national builders and young creative talent," Andre said. ***
