Aghniny Haque International Debut In Indonesia-Malaysia Movie Khadam

For Aghniny, taking part in an international production is a new experience in her career. She admitted that she initially felt nervous before working with a cast and crew from another country.

“I am truly grateful to have had this experience. At first, I was nervous because this was my first international project, but it turned out that all the cast and crew welcomed me warmly,” said Aghniny in an official statement on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Aghniny’s biggest challenge came from the character she portrays, Melor. As a mother who cannot speak, Melor must convey a range of emotions without dialogue.

Aghniny relied on facial expressions, body movements, and sign language to portray Melor’s fear and sadness. She also had to convey the character’s determination to protect her children from supernatural terror.

The challenge was further complicated by the film’s 1950s setting. From the beginning, Aghniny had to study the form of sign language used during that period.

“I can say that this is one of the most challenging roles I have taken on. It was not only about filming in a new environment, but also about showing emotions without words,” she said.

Khadam also offers a different visual approach to horror. Its official poster shows roots encircling Melor’s head, while also depicting her family and home within the same visual.

The element represents the psychological burden Melor faces throughout the story. The terror in the film is also linked to her struggle to protect her family from a supernatural threat.

In addition to Aghniny Haque, Khadam features several Malaysian actors, including Remy Ishak, Siti Khadijah Halim, Zarra Zaff, Karl El, and veteran actress June Lojong.

The Indonesian-Malaysian collaboration has also given Aghniny an opportunity to expand her career. The film marks her first step into regional-scale film production.

Aghniny’s portrayal of Melor will showcase an acting approach that relies on expression and body language. Audiences can see her performance in “Khadam” beginning September 16, 2026, in Indonesian cinemas. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
