RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The involvement of Jakarta-based studio LMN VFX in Stephen Chow’s film Kung Fu Soccer demonstrates that Indonesian visual creators can now penetrate the global film industry without needing to build careers abroad. By adopting international production standards, local talent within the country now has full scope to work on visual effects for global blockbuster films.

Co-Founder of LMN VFX, Fabian Loing, conveyed that LMN VFX’s involvement in Kung Fu Soccer marks another milestone for the studio in adopting international workflows and production standards.

“At the same time, this project is our step to continue learning from the development of the global industry in Asia, which is currently ahead in many aspects of visual production,” said Fabian Loing on Thursday, August 12, 2026.

LMN VFX, as one of the visual effects studios involved in the production of Stephen Chow’s latest film, Kung Fu Soccer, officially began screening in Indonesian cinema networks starting August 12, 2026.

Prior to its release in Indonesia, Kung Fu Soccer premiered in China on July 11, 2026. As of August 12, 2026, the film has reportedly earned more than IDR 5 trillion (USD 280 million) in revenue with over 63 million viewers.

Kung Fu Soccer was written and directed directly by Stephen Chow. This marks his first feature-length directorial work since 2019.

The film was developed as a spiritual successor to the iconic Shaolin Soccer (2001), featuring a new storyline and characters focused on a women’s soccer team. In Indonesia, distribution is handled by Encore Films.

As reported by Antara, this project is not LMN VFX’s first involvement in international productions. For LMN VFX, participation in international projects is not only part of the studio’s growth.

It also opens opportunities for local artists and creators to gain global production experience without having to relocate abroad. LMN VFX is part of the SALY Entertainment ecosystem.

Previously, LMN VFX worked on visual effects for popular series such as Moving, Alice in Borderland, and One Piece. They have also been involved in several national productions such as Ghost in the Cell, as well as Netflix originals including Ratu Ratu Queens, Kabut Berduri, and Dear David.

Currently, LMN VFX is working on visual effects for the latest feature film by Swedish director David Sandberg, Dragonlord. Sandberg is known for Kung Fury (2015), a short film that combines action, comedy, and 1980s pop culture elements.

That film became an internet phenomenon and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the same year. Dragonlord is described as a fantasy punk film that blends action, comedy, and science fiction.

“I joined LMN three and a half years ago. What has kept me here until now is the large-scale international projects I can work on here. This is something I previously thought I had to pursue abroad,” said LMN VFX Editor Fadil Zamroni, who is part of the Dragonlord production team.

As the volume and scale of international productions handled continue to grow, LMN VFX continues to open opportunities for new talent in the visual effects field.

Open positions cover various disciplines, ranging from Houdini FX/Crowd, 3D Environment, 3D Asset, Look Development to Compositing. Recruitment is projected to take place periodically until the end of 2026 through LMN VFX’s official LinkedIn page.

“We are looking for talent that not only possesses technical skills but also the spirit to learn international production standard workflows. Projects like Dragonlord demand extremely high scale and CGI complexity, so we need to strengthen our team capacity,” said Founder and CEO of LMN VFX, Andi Wijaya. ***
