‘House of Indonesia’ Officially Opens in Nagoya to Support Asian Games 2026 Athletes

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya – House of Indonesia, established to support the participation of the Indonesian contingent in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, was officially opened in Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini P. Sjahrir said Indonesia House is expected to serve as a support facility for athletes as well as a platform for Indonesian diplomacy during the 2026 Asian Games.

“Indonesia House needs to be utilized as effectively as possible. We hope it can serve as a coordination center to support all Indonesian athletes in their efforts at the 2026 Asian Games,” she said.

She added that Indonesia House reflects the state’s presence in supporting Indonesian athletes competing at the Asian Games.

“Indonesia House shows that the state stands alongside our athletes. We also seek to provide encouragement and a sense of togetherness. Indonesia House is also the House of the Motherland. It is a symbol of our country, and we hope it can provide protection and convenience for the athletes,” Kartini said.

The Ambassador attended the inauguration accompanied by Muhammad Al Aula, Coordinator of the Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Ministe, Erick Thohir, who inaugurated Indonesia House together with Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari and Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team Todotua Pasaribu, said the facility was initially designed as a place where athletes could receive support during the Asian Games.

“Alhamdulillah, I believe Indonesia House is a platform that continues to develop. Initially, we discussed how Indonesia House could become a home for our athletes. It will also serve as a platform for diplomacy,” Erick said.

According to him, Indonesia House will not only showcase Indonesian cuisine but also introduce the country’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and tourism to the international community.

Raja Sapta Oktohari said Indonesia House is expected to provide a welcoming environment for athletes, officials, and other guests during the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Meanwhile, Chef de Mission of the Indonesian Team Todotua Pasaribu said preparations for the Indonesian contingent’s participation in the opening ceremony of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games had been completed.

The Indonesian contingent will participate in the athletes’ parade with around 100 people, comprising members of the CdM team and athletes.

Indonesia will also showcase cultural elements through outfits reflecting the nation’s identity during the parade. Meanwhile, basketball athlete Dewa Ayu Made Sriartha Kusuma Dewi and karate athlete Daniel Hutapea have been appointed as the flag bearers for the Indonesian contingent.
