Prabowo Arrives in Vladivostok Ahead of Economic Forum, Welcomed by Students

RRI.CO.ID, Vladivostok – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Vladivostok, Russia on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:45 a.m. local time. Russian President Vladimir Putin invited him to the city to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) as the main guest of honor.

According to Indonesia’s Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday, President Prabowo was welcomed at the airport by Primorye Region Vice Governor Said Yusupov and Vladivostok Minister of Foreign Relations Konstantin Sidorenko. The Head of State was also welcomed by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republic of Belarus, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, and the Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Vice Marshal of the Indonesian Air Force Budi Susilo, as well as Indonesia’s Honorary Consul in Vladivostok, Anton Zubkho.

Prabowo’s arrival in Vladivostok is part of efforts to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Russia, which continue to develop across various fields. According to the secretariat, the President’s presence as the main guest of honor also reflects the two countries' close relationship.

Previously, in 2025, the President also attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as a guest of honor. His attendance this time, the secretariat said, further demonstrates Indonesia’s active participation in international economic forums.

More broadly, the President’s visit to Vladivostok provides an opportunity to expand cooperation between Indonesia and Russia across various sectors. Strategic issues such as the economy, trade, investment, and other potential sectors will be important parts of the agenda during the visit.

After leaving the airport, Indonesian students welcomed Prabowo at a building in Vladivostok. They, carrying the Indonesian flag, were seen welcoming the president enthusiastically.

Andini Yuliasari, one of the Indonesian students who has been studying in Vladivostok for four years, said she was nervous but happy to have the opportunity to meet Prabowo in person. For her, that opportunity was memorable.

"Of course, I felt nervous and happy at the same time because this was the first time I had the chance to meet the President and shake his hand. For me, it was a very memorable experience," she said.

According to her, Prabowo’s presence in Vladivostok was a source of pride for Indonesians. She also believes that the President’s participation in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) could further strengthen relations between Indonesia and Russia.

"I think this can bring Indonesia and Russia even closer," she said.
