RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s message at the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, was not only about food security but also about turning interconnected global challenges into opportunities.
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia’s transformation from a major grain importer to an emerging exporter illustrates how limitations can be reshaped into capacity through national development.
“For years, Indonesia was among the largest importers of grains, rice, and corn. Today, we have become an exporter and are ready to increase support for the world,” President Prabowo said in an official statement on Sunday, September 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He framed this achievement as a model for BRICS nations, noting that each member has resources and production strengths that could be optimized collectively.
“Together we can turn these interconnected challenges into opportunities for greater investment, stronger industries, more jobs, and better prospects for our people,” he explained.
President Prabowo argued that resilience depends on inclusive growth and innovation, stressing that economic progress must be felt broadly across society.
Within BRICS, he pointed out, complementary resources and capacities could form a stronger supply chain if properly connected. “BRICS has already become a supply chain. Our task is to link and optimize it so that this strength becomes a greater source of value for all of us,” he said.
As a concrete step, President Prabowo proposed joint industrialization among BRICS members to maximize shared resources and production capacity. “Let us pursue industrialization together and optimize the resources and capacities we hold collectively,” he concluded.
By shifting the focus from Indonesia’s domestic transformation to the potential of collective BRICS cooperation, President Prabowo positioned the bloc not just as a political alliance but as a driver of inclusive global growth. ***
