No Fatalities Reported in Saudi Collision Involving Indonesian Pilgrims

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry, through the Consulate General in Jeddah, is providing assistance following a traffic accident involving Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
“The accident involved buses carrying pilgrims from Hajj Group SUB‑2 and Hajj Group JKS‑1 on their return from a city tour in Jabal Magnet," Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Heni Hamidah, said in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
"Based on the information received, no fatalities were reported,” Heni added.
Heni confirmed that all pilgrims have received proper medical care. “There were no fatalities in this incident. All pilgrims who sustained injuries have been given the necessary treatment,” she assured.
Ten pilgrims were reported injured. Seven from Group JKS‑1 suffered minor injuries, were treated by local health teams, and have since returned to their hotel. Three others from Group SUB‑2 also received medical care; two have been discharged, while one 60‑year‑old pilgrim remains under observation at Al‑Hayyat Quba Hospital.
“We continue to monitor the condition of the pilgrim under observation and ensure that he receives the best possible care,” Heni said.
She emphasized that the Consulate General in Jeddah is coordinating closely with Saudi authorities, travel organizers, and other relevant parties to guarantee proper assistance and protection for all affected pilgrims.
“The Foreign Ministry, through the Consulate General in Jeddah, will remain present to provide protection and ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens, including Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia,” Heni affirmed. (Diva Rifdah/Sri Wahyuni)
