Violence Against Women Cases Decreases in Bandung

KBRN, Bandung; Bandung City Women Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A) claimed cases of violence against women and children have decreased from 437 cases to 417 cases this year.

"From 2023, there were 437 cases and now it has decreased to 417 cases. The decrease in cases mainly occurred in violence against women," said Head of Bandung City DP3A, Uum Sumiati, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, as quoted by rri.co.id.

Uum said that there are a number of aspects that have caused the decrease in violence. One of them is the increasing amount of information and education for action, one of them is the Senandung Perdana application service.

The public can easily report incidents of violence that occur in their surroundings via smartphone. This service is designed to provide faster and safer access to victims of violence that occur in the Bandung City area, West Java.

"Education through this program can help reduce the number of cases of violence against women and children," she explained.

Based on data from the Bandung City DP3A, there were 200 cases of violence against women in 2024. Consisting of 97 cases of violence against wives and 102 cases against other women, the highest form of violence is psychological, followed by sexual violence.

Uum added, for cases of violence against children, there were 218 victims of violence recorded with 50 percent experiencing sexual violence, followed by bullying and physical violence.
