RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Rumah Kelahiran Buya Hamka Museum is a special cultural site located in West Sumatra that carefully stores the personal belongings of a great Indonesian scholar. This historic house honors the life and works of Prof. Dr. Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah, who is widely known as Buya Hamka.
Visitors can explore this educational destination in the Nagari Sungai Batang area right next to Lake Maninjau. The building is meticulously restored to match its original Minangkabau traditional house architecture.
Classified as a specialized museum with a Type B rating, it focuses primarily on the history of this single extraordinary figure. It acts as an important museum for learning about Indonesian literature, religion, and national history.
Owned by the Agam Regency government, the site is carefully managed by the local education and culture department. The staff works hard to maintain the exhibits and welcome students, researchers, and tourists.

The museum officially opened on November 11, 2001, after the original family home was rebuilt following years of damage. Inside, guests can view memorabilia like personal furniture, old photographs, and dozens of books written by Hamka himself.
