To sustain the momentum of this high-demand adventure attraction while safeguarding local ecosystems, Garut Disparbud is collaborating with the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) to establish clear operational boundaries for off-road operators. The initiative ensures that Jeep safaris around landmarks like Gunung Guntur strictly bypass restricted Nature Reserve (Cagar Alam) zones.
Route curation is being finalized ahead of the upcoming Suzuki TS National Jamboree, which is set to bring between 800 and 1,000 off-road drivers to Garut next week. Conservation officials confirmed that Jeep safaris will continue to operate along approved non-reserve tracks.
Tourism officials and environmental managers emphasized that positioning Jeep safari tours as a primary destination highlight requires strict regulatory frameworks to prevent environmental encroachment.
Head of Disparbud at Garut Regency, Beni Yoga Gunasantika underscored the soaring popularity of Jeep safari packages and the proactive measures taken to protect natural habitats.
"Jeep safari tours are currently experiencing peak popularity and have become a major highlight for Garut's tourism sector, while we actively promote this outdoor attraction, we are working closely with the BBKSDA to minimize environmental impacts. With nearly a thousand participants arriving for the national motor jamboree next week, we have curated the safari tracks to strictly avoid protected Nature Reserve areas," Beni said in Garut on Monday, August 31, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Head of Conservation Region V Garut at BBKSDA West Java Vitriana Yulalita reiterated that regulated off-road routes ensure both safety and environmental compliance.
