RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - The Bandung City Government is finalizing preparations for the reactivation of Husein Sastranegara International Airport. The update was announced in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The city is improving infrastructure while preparing airport branding and shuttle services for passengers. The efforts aim to enhance travel convenience and strengthen Bandung's appeal to domestic and international visitors.

Bandung Mayor, Muhammad Farhan, said the airport's reactivation is expected to support tourism and education. He believes easier air access will encourage more people to visit, study, and do business in Bandung.

"Bandung has now secured the reactivation of Husein Airport. Hopefully, this will attract more people to attend schools and universities in Bandung," he said.

The city government is awaiting airlines to finalize flight schedules after obtaining permits from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Around 10 to 11 routes are expected to operate, including three international destinations.

Farhan said Bandung is now focusing on creating a distinctive airport identity and expanding passenger services. He added that the city is exploring partnerships to provide airport shuttle transportation.

"We now only need to ensure two things from Bandung. First, the Bandung branding design at the airport, and second, the possibility of finding partners to provide shuttle services," he added.

The airport is officially named Husein Sastranegara Bandung International Airport under InJourney Airports. The city is also improving environmental conditions around the airport to support safer flight operations.
