RRI.CO.ID, Probolinggo - Police in Probolinggo, East Java, have stepped up patrols at several key locations within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) following a surge in tourist arrivals after the area reopened from its closure during Nyepi Day.

“To ensure the security and comfort of tourists, we are maximizing patrols in the Mount Bromo area,” said Probolinggo Police Chief Adj. Sr. Com. M. Wahyudin Latif on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Patrols are concentrated in the sea of sand, the Bromo crater, and the access route through Probolinggo Regency. The measures aim to prevent disturbances and ensure visitor safety amid the high number of domestic and international tourists.

Latif reminded visitors to exercise caution when traveling to Bromo, noting that the route is challenging. He urged tourists to keep vehicles in good condition and obey traffic signs. “Our presence is a service to tourists on holiday at Mount Bromo, ensuring they have a safe and comfortable experience. We also urge tourists to help preserve the area by not littering,” he said.

Tourists have welcomed the increased security. “The views at Mount Bromo are beautiful, the air is cool, and it feels safer because there are many police patrols,” said Anik, a visitor from Blora, Central Java.

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park has raised the daily visitor quota for Mount Bromo to 3,572 during the Eid holiday, compared to the normal quota of 2,752. ***
