RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Public Works Ministry is encouraging the public to visit Malalayang Beach in Manado, North Sulawesi to make the most of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday. The area has undergone significant revitalization and is projected to become a premier destination to attract tourists and stimulate the local economy.
Malalayang Beach is located on North Sulawesi Sea Road, Malalayang Dua, in the Malalayang Subdistrict of Manado, North Sulawesi. Situated approximately four kilometers from the city center, the beach is easily accessible within a 10-minute drive.
The revitalization was carried out by the North Sulawesi Building, Infrastructure, and Regional Settlement Agency as part of a broader strategy to strengthen tourism infrastructure. This initiative aims to enhance visitor comfort while creating new business opportunities for the local community.
Public Works Minister, Dody Hanggodo, emphasized that the area's development focuses on more than just aesthetics. He noted that the construction of functional public facilities is key to driving growth in the tourism sector.
"The Public Works Ministry is delivering tourism infrastructure that is not only beautiful, but also functional. With representative public facilities in place, the Malalayang area is expected to become a top-tier destination that draws significant tourist numbers," said Minister Dody in a written release on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
The second phase of development, completed in late 2024, has resulted in a two-kilometer stretch of revitalized coastline. A primary feature is the 800-meter promenade, which is capable of accommodating up to one thousand visitors daily.
The area is also equipped with various supporting facilities, including playgrounds, an open-air theater, pedestrian bridges, and culinary kiosks. Other amenities include a boat pier, a lookout tower, a diving center, and multifunctional public spaces.
In addition to Malalayang, the Ministry is strengthening maritime tourism connectivity in Bunaken National Park. Improvements include upgraded road access, pedestrian paths, regional gates, and tourist piers.
Furthermore, the government has installed breakwater infrastructure to ensure coastal resilience. This effort is aimed at securing the sustainability of tourism areas against environmental dynamics.
Through these developments, the government targets an increase in tourist arrivals and regional economic circulation. The Eid holiday momentum is seen as a strategic period to optimize the use of these newly revitalized tourist zones. (Annaila Azzahra//Bambang MBKA)
