RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Public Works Ministry has completed the entire stretch of the South Coast Route (Pansela) in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, opening improved access to southern coastal tourist destinations and boosting prospects for local economic growth.
The final section, Brumbun–Sine, which had faced landslide setbacks at several points, was finished in late May 2026. Its completion connects a 51.56‑kilometer corridor running from the Trenggalek border to Blitar.
“Pansela is expected to become an alternative travel route to reduce congestion on the North Coast Route and the Trans‑Java Toll Road. At the same time, this road also opens access to tourism areas and the coastal community’s economic centers,” Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said in a written statement on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
With Brumbun-Sine now linked, travelers can more easily reach popular beach destinations such as Sine, Dlodo, Gemah, Brumbun, and Kedung Tumpang. The ministry said improved connectivity is likely to increase tourist visits and support growth in local trades, including retail, culinary services, tourism businesses, and fisheries.
The Tulungagung segment forms part of a larger Pansela network in East Java, stretching 628.39 kilometers, and contributes to the national Pansela Jawa project, which aims to connect more than 1,500 kilometers of southern coastal roads. (Annaila Azzahra)
