RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana reviewed the readiness of several museums in Jakarta ahead of the Nyepi and Eid holiday period in 2026 on Tuesday, March 17, 2016. The visit covered three locations: Museum Kebangkitan Nasional, Galeri Nasional Indonesia, and Museum Nasional Indonesia.

Widiyanti stated that, based on data from the Jakarta Transportation Agency, around 4 million residents are expected not to travel for the Eid homecoming in 2026. This situation presents an opportunity for in-city tourist destinations, including museums, to attract visitors.

She encouraged the public to explore domestic tourism destinations, particularly those that offer educational value such as museums. According to her, museums are no longer merely places to store historical artifacts, but have evolved into interactive and inclusive recreational spaces for various groups.

During the visit, the minister highlighted several key aspects of readiness, including visitor flow management, queue systems, and exhibition space capacity to ensure comfort amid a potential surge in visitors. In addition, cleanliness and safety were emphasized to guarantee a secure and pleasant experience for visitors.

The minister also stressed the importance of integrating digital services, both in ticketing systems and information provision, to improve accessibility and enhance the overall visitor experience.

She expressed appreciation for the efforts made by museum managers in preparing for the holiday period, including the immersive exhibition space at the Museum Nasional Indonesia, which is considered capable of providing a more engaging and interactive experience.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Tourism Polytechnics and Authorities under its supervision, has conducted visits to 170 destinations and organized 118 regional events included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara program.
