RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — Indonesia is intensifying its tourism promotion in North America through participation in the “Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show 2026,” held on March 7–8 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
The initiative marks a concrete step toward expanding market penetration and strengthening Indonesia’s image as a preferred destination for U.S. travelers, one of the country’s largest contributor markets.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated in Jakarta on Monday, March 9, 2026, that the mission aims to introduce Indonesia’s leading destinations while building sustainable business connections with industry partners.
“Through participation in the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show 2026, we want to introduce more closely the various leading destinations of Indonesia while building sustainable business connections with industry partners in this region,” she said, as quoted on the Ministry’s official website.
The Indonesian Pavilion featured eight tourism stakeholders, including Destination Management Companies, tour operators, and accommodation providers. Exhibitors promoted directly to consumers while also exploring business-to-business opportunities with U.S.-based wholesalers and travel agents.
A highlight of the pavilion was the “Taste of Indonesia” activation, organized in collaboration with the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Los Angeles, which offered traditional snacks to showcase Indonesia’s gastronomic tourism potential.
Minister Widiyanti emphasized that Indonesia’s participation in the largest travel exhibition in the United States is part of an integrated promotional strategy to raise awareness, expand partnership networks, and boost sales of Indonesian tour packages, particularly in North America.
The promotional mission continues with business matching sessions. The first was held on March 10 at the residence of the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco, in collaboration with Singapore Airlines and Aero Globe Indonesia.
A second session is scheduled for March 12 at the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, in partnership with EVA Air. Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, explained that these targeted meetings allow Indonesian industry players to address the specific needs of local partners.
“North America is a strategic market and holds great potential for Indonesian tourism. Through business matching activities in San Francisco and Vancouver, we, together with Indonesian tourism industry players, are simultaneously greeting potential partners directly in the local market, creating real cooperation opportunities that match the interests and needs of potential tourists,” she said.
The mission also includes discussions with major international airlines, including Philippine Airlines, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, and Japan Airlines. Talks focus on increasing air connectivity by increasing flight frequencies and expanding seat capacity from North American hubs via Asian transit cities.
The Ministry has set a target of 1,640 potential transactions, equivalent to approximately IDR 58.1 billion in foreign exchange. Deputy Made noted that direct promotion in target markets is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s global image, support the achievement of foreign tourist arrival targets, and enhance national tourism competitiveness. ***
