RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian state-owned aviation and tourism holding company, InJourney, is aggressively strengthening its domestic tourism services to offset the ripple effects of escalating Middle East conflicts. This strategic shift follows reports of significant international flight cancellations and rerouting, particularly affecting Indonesia's premier travel hub, Bali.

As reported by Antara, data from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport management in Bali reveals that between February 28 and March 4, 2026, at least 35 international flights were cancelled due to airspace closures stemming from the regional volatility. To mitigate these losses, InJourney is banking on the resilience of local travelers to sustain the national tourism ecosystem.

"Cancellations and other disruptions are inevitable. There will certainly be an impact. However, we believe the domestic tourism sector remains quite strong, said InJourney Commercial Director, Veronica H. Sisilia, commonly known as Tata, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Despite the geopolitical uncertainty, the holding company remains optimistic about growth in the first quarter of 2026. This confidence is fueled by a series of major holidays, including the aftermath of the New Year, Lunar New Year, and the upcoming coincidence of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H and Nyepi (the Balinese Day of Silence). InJourney views these high-traffic periods as a critical buffer against global instability.

While acknowledging the pressure of external factors, Tata noted that the industry's fundamentals remain promising. "From the tourism sector's perspective, whatever happens today, such as volatility in energy prices, exchange rates, and so on, it definitely has an impact. But we are still looking at the growth forecast; the closing data for December 2025 showed a rise of about 14.4 percent, and we hope domestic tourism stays robust," she added.

To capitalize on the upcoming long holidays, InJourney has prepared a range of curated offers and services across its vast ecosystem, which includes airports, hotels, and retail spaces. The goal is to ensure that the Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi festivities remain vibrant despite the shadow of international conflict.

"As service providers, we want everyone to enjoy this Lebaran holiday with a happy heart. Whether they are returning for homecoming, traveling with family, or flying across the archipelago, that is our primary focus in the current situation," concluded Tata. ***
