Lake Denuh Natural Tourism in Tasikmalaya, West Java

RRI.CO.ID, Tasikmalaya - One of the tourist destinations in Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java Province, besides Mount Galunggung, Karang Tawulan Beach, and Kampung Naga, is Lake Denuh in Culamega Subdistrict. This lake, located atop Culamega Hill, is not only beautiful but also a paradise for anglers, as it is home to various species of freshwater fish.

"It's beautiful, the nature is pristine, the lake is pristine. Basically, if you come here, you'll feel at home, it's peaceful, far from the crowds," said Doni, a visitor.

Because of its location on the hill, Lake Denuh remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. Its natural beauty is maintained with shady trees and cool air.

This beautiful natural attraction has attracted the attention of the Culamega Subdistrict administration, and it continues to strive to revitalize Lake Denuh's natural tourism potential.

The Head of Culamega Subdistrict, Uu Saeful Uyun, said that his administration is currently working to reintroduce the destination to the wider public. Various cross-sectoral activities have been held at the location, ranging from community service, tree planting, and fish seed release.

According to him, this series of activities also serves as the initial promotional step to ensure that Lake Denuh is no longer a hidden destination. Many tourists from outside South Tasikmalaya are still unfamiliar with this natural tourist destination.

"This activity also supports the West Java Governor's program," he said on Monday, February 2, 2026.

The challenging terrain to Lake Denuh actually becomes its own attraction. Access through forest paths, crossing small rivers, and along steep paths is a special draw for adventure enthusiasts, especially motorcycle riders and the off-road community.

"The access to the location still needs to be improved, but it's quite good," he said.

The beautiful lake area is also suitable for camping, nature education activities, and water activities such as rafts. Moreover, the hilly landscape surrounding the lake also offers beautiful views, especially in the morning and evening.

The Culamega Subdistrict Administration expressed its hopes that Lake Denuh will become an alternative tourist destination for weekend getaways while also boosting economic growth for the surrounding community.
