Indonesia Supports ATF 2026 for Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism

RRI.CO.ID, Cebu – Indonesia has affirmed its commitment to supporting the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2026 adopt the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan (ATSP) 2026–2030, which serves as a strategic guide for promoting inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive regional tourism.
This was conveyed by Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana while attending the ATF 2026 Opening Ceremony in Cebu, Philippines, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan 2026–2030 is intended to enhance visitor experiences, empower companies of all sizes, and boost ASEAN's standing in the international tourist market, all as a roadmap for regional tourism growth.
"ASEAN is not only Indonesia's closest market, but also the heart of tourism growth, encouraging repeat visits, providing new experiences, and opening up shared opportunities for the region," said Tourism Minister Widiyanti, as quoted by the ministry's official website.
At the same event, Christina Garcia Frasco, the Philippine Tourism Secretary, delivered a statement from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., underscoring the significance of sustainable and inclusive tourism and the vital role the industry plays in creating economic prospects for local communities.
"Tourism becomes empowering when it is inclusive. When policies are implemented with prudence, it becomes sustainable," said President Marcos.
This message aligns with the spirit of the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan 2026–2030, the main pillar of ATF 2026.This roadmap shows the region's course toward creative growth, environmentally sound development, and advancement that puts the needs of its citizens first.
With the theme "Navigating Our Tourism Future, Together," the Philippines officially launched ATF 2026. With this theme, the Philippines urged all member nations and partners to collaborate in advancing and enhancing tourism in the area, in accordance with the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan's five pillars.
These five pillars include Sustainable Tourism, Digital Tourism, Product and Market Diversification, Accessible and Seamless Travel, Empowerment of the Tourism Workforce, and Resilient Tourism.
With ATF 2026, the Philippines extends an invitation to all ASEAN member nations and partners to collaborate in order to raise the standard of tourism in the region and move ASEAN toward more robust, shared development.
In keeping with this spirit, Tourism Minister Widiyanti thinks that ASEAN tourism will move closer to becoming more integrated, resilient, and sustainable in the future through close collaboration.
